Indian Removal Remembrance – 2018 – Date – TBD

The first annual Indian Removal Remembrance commemoration is the largest effort ever undertaken to show support for Native American children. Activities will span across seven cities in four states over the course of seven days. The 2018 Indian Removal Remembrance commemoration features cultural events, 5k walks, charity rides and outdoor festivals in North Carolina, Tennessee and Oklahoma during a one-of-a-kind, week-long remembrance.

The event begins in Cherokee, North Carolina with an opening ceremony featuring music, arts, dance, speakers and more. This is the starting point for the charity walks and a motorcade featuring antique cars, motorcycles and other vehicles that will cross through four states. A highlight of the opening ceremony will be the lighting of Enduring Spirit, a ceremonial torch honoring Native American history and its enduring culture. On foot, in cars and on motorcycles, the torch will be carried from Cherokee to Tahlequah, Oklahoma, site of the closing ceremony for the Indian Removal Remembrance remembrance.

Along with a mid-point event in Memphis, there will also be stops in Chattanooga, Pulaski, Little Rock and Port Smith, Arkansas. The Indian Removal Remembrance commemoration will help to focus attention on the needs of our Native American youth, whose communities suffer with levels of infant mortality, poverty and suicide that are triple the national average. And childhood cancer rates higher than most any other ethnic group.

Please help us with your generous support and participation. Help us to empower Native American youth; to enrich their lives, strengthen their hope and fulfill their dreams.
